We’ve all seen the sign by the intersection of Snowden Bridge Blvd and Flyfoot Dr, announcing that Golden Path Academy is “coming soon” to Snowden Bridge. So, what’s the plan? When will the Academy open, and what will it offer?
I reached out to Lindsey Kilgannon, one of the partners at Golden Path Academy and its Executive Director, who was gracious enough to take time out of her busy schedule and chat with me about Golden Path.
Golden Path Academy is a family oriented, Christ centered program whose mission is to “provide a path of excellence for the whole child and their family, nurturing growth, in a safe, loving, high quality Christian child development center.“
Lindsey emphasized that Golden Path aims to be part of the community and support the community; they are not just a drop-off center. They seek to build relationships, establishing a family oriented program for the entire community.
Golden Path Academy in Snowden Bridge
About a year or two ago, Golden Path Academy started thinking about a possible expansion, and so it began researching potential expansion options. As they were doing their homework, they found out that a day care center was in the plans for Snowden Bridge.
Their research showed that the Winchester area and Snowden Bridge are growing fast and that there is a need for the type of programs that Golden Path offers. Then, everything fell into place. They found a connection to Brookfield and eventually came to an agreement with Brookfield to open their facility in Snowden Bridge.
The plan is to start construction in Spring 2019, with doors opening late Spring / early Summer of 2020 for the 2020 school year. Right now (although this may change slightly) the plan is for the Academy to accommodate between 150-175 children and, eventually, employ 28-30 teachers and staff.
The Programs
The Academy will operate between 6:30am and 6:30pm and will offer a wide range of programs; from infant care (as early as 6 weeks old), pre-school, and kindergarten, to after-school programs for children age 6-11. Golden Path Academy will also offer summer camps! You can see their programs in more detail, here.
For its after-school program, Golden Path will offer a pick up service. Parents working late will love the convenience of their children going to the 12th Elementary School and then being picked up by Golden Path for after-school programs.
Overall
I’ve had several clients ask me what daycare options they have if they move to Snowden Bridge. A quality daycare center nearby is definitely a desirable feature. I think, having Golden Path in the neighborhood, along with the 12th Elementary School, will make Snowden Bridge more attractive to more potential buyers and will help further increase home values.
